Brow shaping

The shape of the eyebrow can enhance a face or ruin the entire appearance. The reason we tweeze the brow is to make more space for eye shadow and to neaten the eye area and it also creates an upward lifting illusion.
The ideal shape

  • The eye brow begins on a imaginary vertical line with the side of the nose – this is the lowest point
  • The arch is the highest point and appears where the outer iris begins
  • It ends on a diagonal line with the side of the nose to the outer corner of the eye. This is in between the arch and the stat of the brow
  • Any hair beyond this point should be removed

How to tweeze

The skin around the eye is delicate and sensitive. Slightly draw the skin upward in the area you are going to tweeze remove one hair at a time by pulling from the root. This prevents the hair from breaking off and always pull in the direction of the hair growth. And remember a blunt tweezers is better
How to prepare your skin before applying your makeup.
To prepare your skin before applying makeup, always ensure your skin is clean and moisturized. You’ll find that the makeup glides on and blends more easily. And remember to give the moisturizer between 5 and 10 minutes to be absorbed as it can cause the foundation to steak.
So what do al the different products do?

  • Cleanser: Removes impurities
  • Toner: Removes excess dirt and balances the HP level
  • Exfoliating scrub: Removes dead skin and prevents black heads (should be used once or twice a week depends on skin type)
  • Moisturizer: Nourishes the skin
  • Sunscreen: Prevents sun damage
  • Eye Cream: nourishes the delicate eye area (ideal on mature skin)
  • Lip treatment: protects lips and give a smooth finish
  • Should you have a oily skin a T-Zone mattifier can be used on the oily areas, this will prevent shine
  • Should you have dry/flaky skin a silicone based primer can be used to reduce the appearance  of dry patches and moisturizes the dry area

Now how to clean and moisturize

  • Cleans your face every morning and night. When cleansing your face, do so gently – do not tug,   pull or scrub too hard to prevent irritation of the skin.
  • Remove excess dirt with a toner containing ingredients that suit your skin type.
  • Keep your skin hydrated with a moisturizer that suits your skin type. Make sure your daytime moisturizer contains SPF to protect your skin from the sun.Remember to treat your skin

Treat yourself to an at-home-facial 2 to 3 times a week.

  • Use a mild cleanser
  • Then exfoliate with a gentle scrub.
  • Apply a facial mask after exfoliating.
  • Rinse off thoroughly and get a good night’s sleep!

Foundation

Foundation is used to even out the skin tone, pan out unwanted colour and even out the skin tone and texture. When selecting your foundation match it to the side of the face so that the colour graduation from the jaw to the neck blends. The reason why you must not test foundation on the centre of the face is because there is too much colour there – it can be from pigmentation, freckles or sun damage.
 Different types of foundations
Mineral Tint:  A  light moisturizer with a hint of colour.  Suitable for all skin types. Looks great on dry/mature skin.   Sheer coverage
Liquid Moisture Foundation:  Suitable for normal/dry skin  Light – Medium coverage
Matte Foundation: Suitable for normal/ oily skins Medium – Full coverage
Foundation stick: Comes in a cream stick form Suitable for excessive oily & ethnic skins Doubles up as a concealer
Applying Foundation

  • Apply the foundation to your chin, cheeks and forehead, using a foundation brush (when using the brush its easier to but the foundation on the top of your hand on the side of your thumb), or clean fingertips. (I wont recommend a sponge because it absorbs most of the foundation) Spread the foundation al the way to your hairline with long and light strokes.
  • Blending the foundation with a makeup sponge over the jaw line into the neck to create a natural look. Check your face in good or natural light to make sure the foundation is blended completely in al areas.
  • If under eye circles or red spots remain, do not add more foundation, it can look heavy and cakey. Instead try a concealer and mix it with a mint or peach concealer.

Concealer

The function of concealer is to hide what the foundation did not for example blueness around the eyes and blemishes. Concealer is also used on the eye lids to help intensify the eye shadow and blending. The concealer must be the same or one shade lighter then your foundation. Be careful not to go to light, because if it’s to light it could draw attention to the conceald area. Remember a little can go a far way. If you have dry/ mature skin, avoid concealer as it can accentuate fine lines and flakiness on the skins surface.
 Different Concealers

  • Liquid
  • Cream (preferred)
  • Stick

Corrective Concealers include mint to pan out redness or sun burn and peach to pan out bruises and blueness.
How to apply concealer

  • The skin under your eyes is more transparent, it tends to look dark. Especially at the inner corners. To even it out apply concealer. Using the concealer you have chosen, gently pat over dark under-eye circles, and then blend with your ring finger or wedge. And if its really dark mix a little bit of peach concealer with your concealer.
  • To cover trouble spots and imperfections, apply a thicker cream concealer onto the blemish or flaw. Then lightly press with a makeup wedge to blend. And mint can also be mix in to pan out the red.
  • To intensify the eye put a little bit of concealer on the eyelids and blend in with a wedge.

Powder

Getting an all-day flawless finish.
Powder is used to set the foundation and concealer and to get rid of too much shine on the face. It also provides smooth blending for any eye makeup or blush to follow.Powder prolongs the staying power of the rest of the makeup and is essential that it’s touched up on a regular basis.
 Types of Powder
Loose: Suitable fore normal – oily skin.
Compact: Slightly lighter than the loose powder (Ideal for personal use and to put in your handbag)
 Powder Application
If your sin surface is oily you would apply the powder with a cotton powder puff, gently pressing in a roll motion without tugging and removing foundation. If you have dry skin gently dust a small amount of powder over the entire face. Shake off excess to avoid uneven distribution, then apply powder over entire face and neck The eye lids must be powdered exceptionally well to ensure the shadow does not shift ore cake due to moisture.
